Once your education is done, it’s time for the NHIE, administered by PSI. This proctored exam runs 200 questions and puts your technical knowledge and professional judgment to the test.
Next, Arizona wants you to get hands-on experience: 30 parallel inspections alongside a certified Arizona inspector in good standing. You’ll take part in the actual evaluation, write a report for each one, get feedback from your mentor along the way, and keep a signed board log. When you apply, you’ll submit a completed parallel inspection affidavit and a sample report.
Before you apply, get your IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card through the Arizona Department of Public Safety. Then send your full application to the Arizona Board of Technical Registration, along with your 84-hour education certificate, NHIE passing scores, parallel inspection log, and the application fee.
