Before you submit your state application, you need a General Liability insurance policy with a minimum coverage of $50,000, combined for bodily injury and property damage. Oklahoma requires you to apply with the state before you can take your exam. Submit your notarized Home Inspector Application, proof of your 90-hour education certificate, proof of liability insurance, and the $280 fee to the Construction Industries Board. Once the CIB reviews and approves your file, they will grant you eligibility to schedule your exam.
After the CIB clears your application, you’ll receive contact information for a third-party testing vendor, PSI, to schedule your exam. You must pass the National Home Inspector Examination (NHIE), a proctored, 200-question test that evaluates your technical competency, system analysis, and professional methods.
